My story

Hello! My name is Nanaimo. I’m not sure who named me, but I know my name and like it. I come when my foster mum calls me.I’m a super special girl who’s first few years of life were pretty rough. I was adopted once but escaped from the car before I could make myself at home. I lived outdoors for almost another year until I was finally brought back, then was bullied by the new cat. I exiled myself to the high-rise balcony and feared I would live there forever, even though it was freezing winter. All those involved in my rescue have expressed they love me dearly. I love humans too, but I’m fearful of past events repeating. That’s why my future family has to have previous experience with cats and absolutely keep me indoors.I’m an easygoing cat but prefer humans who are homebodies. When I first moved to my foster home, I would hide until my foster mum came home. It was her voice and pets that got me to emerge and feel comfortable.I’m used to my foster mum being home in the day, which is great for me because she can refill the food and water bowls constantly. I have amazing dietary control and prefer to eat grazing throughout the day. I also need extra attention to my water bowl because I like to use it to wash my paws and keep my long fur clean!I’m a quiet girl but I purr almost instantly. I love flopping on my side and having belly rubs, rubbing my cute black nose against furniture, and giving head-butts to my humans. I also like being around my younger brother, Susu, and helping him to wash his fur. I’d love for him to come with me to my forever home, or for there to be another cat there who’ll be gentle and affectionate. I’m sensitive but do like kitty friends.I’m very, very gentle. I just wants pets and attention. I like sleeping pressed beside my human or at your feet, so I’m looking for a home that will let me in the bedroom at night. I’ll show my appreciation by bringing toys to you as you’re settling to sleep. You’ll hear some meows from me, but mostly I communicate in purrs and little whispers.Like all ACR cats, Nanaimo is up to date on vaccines and has been treated for fleas and parasites. Nanaimo is also FIV and FeLV negative.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nanaimo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
