My story

Meow! I’m Susu. It means ‘soot’ in Japanese – don’t you think I look like one of the soot sprites from a Studio Ghibli film?I’m ~1 year old with black fur that glows brown in the sun and green eyes that watch the world with curiosity. My foster mum says I have a cheeky face. I may look spooked but I’m actually really brave!I’m a sprightly critter who loves to play, but I’m also a needy baby boy who loves to cuddle. I make the loudest purrs from my tiny body! I may hide from humans initially but I’m quick to warm up. I even let the neighbours pet me when they came to check on me and charmed them with my cute ways.I’m looking for a forever home where I can express my kittenish energy alongside a companion cat. I also hope my future home is spacious enough with lots of nooks for me to explore. My foster mum often catches me taking her things like small figurines or stones. They look like cat toys! I’m learning to respect her boundaries and no longer climb onto the shelf. It helps to have another cat to play with.I’d love to live with my older sister Nanaimo, who’s patient and nurturing. She taught me to properly groom! If it’s not possible to live with Nanaimo, I definitely need a loving kitty friend who likes a younger cat and has energy for playtime. In my first foster home, I was lowest of the pecking order, and other cats ate my food. It’s important to me to me that we can eat, play, and cuddle together without issues.I think I’d like a home with children, if there were any. I’ve never bitten or scratched my foster mum, even when she touches my belly or picks me up. I’m still learning to like being approached when a human is standing up, but I readily approach and seek out cuddles when a human is lying down or sitting.Like all ACR cats, Susu is up to date on vaccines and has been treated for fleas and parasites.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Susu, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
