My story

Markie is a lovable black and white pit bull mix with enough personality to light up a whole neighborhood. She’s bursting with energy, joy, and affection—and she’s always ready to share it with everyone she meets. Pets? She LOVES them. Cuddles? She LOVES them. Attention? She LOVES LOVES LOVES it! This spunky girl is a full-on lovebug who thinks every hand should be petting her and every lap should be her new snuggle spot. Markie thrives on human interaction and is happiest when she’s near her people. She does well with kids and even gets along with cats—though remember, she’s a high-energy gal, so any animal friends should be ready for her enthusiastic style of friendship. Markie already knows how to sit—well, sort of. She gets so excited her little butt can’t stay still and does a happy scoot across the floor! With consistency and structure, she’ll shine even brighter. She may need a refresher on house training once she’s in a home, but she’s smart and eager to please, so with a little patience and routine, she’ll get the hang of it quickly. Markie would thrive in an active home that loves affection as much as she does and has the time and energy to help her be her best, silliest self. If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who lives for love and has a heart as big as her zoomies—Markie is your girl. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $275+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs. Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.
