My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, May 3rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700 Ginny: Part Dachshund, Part Angel, Full-Time Tennis Ball Enthusiast Looking for a soft, sweet shadow with a nose for tennis balls and a heart of gold? Say hello to Ginny! This 13-pound, 11 month old Dachshund mix is equal parts gentle soul and playful sprite. She’s quiet, affectionate, and happiest when she’s got a best friend — canine or human — to lean on (sometimes literally).   Ginny is wonderful with other dogs and can be left home with them like a total pro: no barking, no pacing, just calm cuddles and a solid nap schedule. No dog? Then she’ll need her person nearby — she’s not one to lounge solo while you go live your life. Ginny is either your loyal sidekick or your dog’s #1 fan. Either way, she just wants company and a little kindness.   Potty-wise, she’s housetrained and has excellent manners on a schedule. She’ll use pee pads if needed, and she’s crate-trained, though she much prefers the couch. (She’s got strong opinions on cushions — soft is better.) She sleeps through the night like a dream and is super respectful in the home.   Now, Ginny didn’t always have it easy — she was hit by a car before coming into rescue (rude, we know), but she’s recovered beautifully after surgery. These days, she’s back to bouncing, sniffing, and making the most of her second chance, with zero limitations and plenty of tail wags.   She can be shy with new people but is never reactive — just a quiet little lady who observes first, trusts second, and loves deeply once she knows you’re hers. She’s lived with calm, respectful kids and does well with gentle energy. Loud chaos? Not her jam. Slow and sweet wins the race with this girl.   Ginny’s vibe is part sunbather, part couch potato, and part under-the-table treat detector. She’s low-drama, low-maintenance (besides needing a buddy), and full of warmth.   So if you’ve got a dog looking for a loyal fan, or you work from home and want a tiny coworker who never takes your snacks, Ginny’s your girl. She’s all in — just as long as you are too.    April 24, 2025, 3:48 am
