My story

Meet Bella, a 6-month-old mixed breed sweetheart with a love for gardening and baseball! Originally from the South, Bella was adopted but returned because she loved chasing the cats in the home and the cats were not impressed. Bella is a happy, curious puppy who wants nothing more than to be by your side. Whether you're relaxing on the couch or planting flowers in the yard, she’s your little shadow—though she may try to "help" dig a few holes while you work. Her previous home said she loved watching Red Sox games and was always down to chill with the game on in the background. She's a smart pup who would love to do training classes with you and enjoy hiking, walks, and enrichment games! She’s still learning the ropes when it comes to house training and is working on curbing her mouthy puppy habits, so she’ll need a home that’s ready to continue her training with patience and positive reinforcement. She gets a bit nervous during long car rides, but she’s making progress. Bella enjoys the company of other friendly dogs and has done well with kids 12 and up. She cannot live with cats. If you’re looking for a loyal buddy who’s equal parts playful and sweet, Bella might be your girl. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
