My story

Scout is a wonderful boy whose early life was filled with adventures, activity and everything a Border Collie could hope for. Unfortunately, when his owner could no longer keep him, he left Scout in the care of elderly family members who do not have the time, experience or ability to meet the needs of such an intelligent and active breed. As a result, Scout has spent much of his recent life tied outside, without the physical exercise, mental stimulation and companionship he truly needs. Scout is now looking for someone who will make him a part of their life again and take him along for the ride. He is a typical Border Collie - smart, athletic, curious and happiest when he has something to do and somewhere to go. He absolutely loves swimming and boat rides, enjoys being around horses, has excellent recall and is wonderful on leash. He shows no reaction to other dogs or animals, including farm animals such as ducks and geese. He gets along well with other dogs, but because he is somewhat aloof by nature, he certainly doesn't need another dog in his new home. In fact, Scout would probably love being the centre of his person's world and their adventure buddy. Inside the home, Scout is exceptionally well behaved. He is house trained, non-destructive when left alone and travels beautifully in the car. He even enjoys going into his crate for a nap, although he would prefer that the door remain open. Scout is also a big fan of belly rubs and absolutely soaks up attention from anyone willing to give him some. He can be cautious around men, because of his experience with a male family member he does not trust, so a patient adopter who understands that trust is earned is important. Scout would thrive with an active person or family who wants a canine companion for walks, hikes, swimming, adventures and simply being together. He would be best suited to a home with older children, given his herding-breed nature. He has not been tested with cats, so that remains unknown. It's Scout's turn to experience the world again! He is looking for that special person who will see what an amazing dog he is, give him the life his Border Collie heart needs, and make him their loyal companion for every adventure still to come.
