My story

If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who will make you smile every day, Sunny just might be your perfect match.Sunny is a charming little puppy of about 8 months old, who takes a little time to warm up to new people. He’s naturally a bit reserved at first, but once you’ve earned his trust, you’ll discover an incredibly affectionate cuddle bug who absolutely loves snuggling up beside you - especially on the bed!Sunny enjoys spending time outdoors, racing around the backyard doing zoomies before coming back inside to relax with his people. While he would enjoy having another canine companion, he’s equally happy being the only dog, provided he has someone to love. He can be a little bossy with other dogs and doesn’t always like sharing high-value items like toys or treats, so proper introductions and supervision are important.Sunny is doing well with his house training. He happily goes outside but will also use a puppy pad when needed. He’s comfortable walking on a collar (a harness isn’t his favourite) and enjoys getting out to explore.Like many young dogs, Sunny has a few quirks that only make him more endearing. He has a talent for “borrowing” socks and clothing if they’re left within reach, so keeping the laundry picked up is a must! He’s also happiest in a home where someone is around much of the time, as he can become anxious when left alone.Because Sunny can be vocal and bark at unfamiliar people, he would do best in a detached home rather than an apartment or condo. We also feel he’d be happiest in a home without young children. A securely fenced yard would be ideal, giving him a safe place to run, play, and burn off his playful energy.Sunny is considered a flight risk, so his future family will need to be committed to keeping him safely secured on walks and around open doors and gates. If you’re patient enough to let this sweet boy build trust at his own pace, you’ll be rewarded with a loving, loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be close to his people. His new family will also need to keep up with his grooming as he does have a long growing coat and regular professional grooming would be recommended to keep him comfortable and free of mats.Just look at that face...could Sunny be the sunshine your home has been missing? Please note that due to the high volume of applications our volunteers process, we will only contact those with a strong potential for a success

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sunny, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
