My story

Meet Luffy - A Smart, Playful Shepherd Mix Ready for His Forever Adventure! Luffy is a handsome one-year-old Shepherd mix with a big personality, an even bigger heart, and a love for life that's impossible to resist. Born to a gentle Shepherd mom who was rescued from the Manitoba wildfires, Luffy has inherited her wonderful nature along with the intelligence and loyalty Shepherds are known for. He's now ready to find an active family who will continue helping him grow into the incredible companion he's meant to be. This bright young boy loves learning and is eager to please. He's incredibly food-motivated, making training both fun and rewarding. Luffy already knows how to **sit and wait patiently-even at mealtimes!** He'll happily lock eyes with you, waiting for his release cue before diving into his dinner. He's also recently discovered the joy of playing fetch and is getting better every day at dropping the ball-especially if you've got a tasty treat waiting as his reward! His foster family says he's exceptionally intelligent and always excited to learn something new. Luffy is an energetic boy who loves being active, whether it's playing fetch, exploring outdoors, or enjoying adventures with his people. Once he's had the opportunity to burn off some energy, he's equally happy curling up beside you on the couch, convinced he's the perfect-sized lap dog. One of his sweetest habits is gently offering his paw while you're relaxing together-a quiet way of asking for a little extra love and attention. He's house trained, crate trained, rides well in the car, and settles nicely indoors after exercise. Like many young dogs, Luffy still enjoys chewing and has been known to destroy a toy-or the occasional crate bed-when the mood strikes, so durable enrichment toys and appropriate chew items are a must. Luffy continues to make excellent progress with his training. He's learning to walk politely on leash and is building confidence around distractions. He can become excited when he sees other dogs while out walking, so he'll benefit from continued positive reinforcement and guidance to help him master calm greetings. Because he's still young and curious, Luffy should always be considered a flight risk in new environments, and he'll need a securely fenced yard along with a family committed to continuing his recall training. Luffy is friendly with both men and women and enjoys meeting new people. He does best with respectful older teens (16+) who understand dog body language and can interact calmly with him. While he enjoys the company of other dogs with proper introductions, he would be happiest as the only dog in the home where he can soak up all the attention from his family. Luffy is not suited to a home with cats. Luffy is looking for an active, patient family who will embrace his love of learning and continue helping him build confidence through positive training. In return, you'll gain a loyal best friend who is as happy hiking a trail or chasing a ball as he is snuggling beside you at the end of the day. **If you're searching for an intelligent, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling, challenge you in all the best ways, and reward your efforts with endless love and unwavering Good with women: YesGood with men: YesGood with kids: Yes, 16 years and olderGood with other dogs: Yes, with proper introductionsGood with cats: NoHouse trained: YesCrate trained: YesEnergy level: HighCan be handled/touched: Yes, but he isn't comfortable being handled by little onesBarker: Yes when excitedFlight risk: Yes, if something catches his eye and off leash.
