My story

WEACT received a shocking report about a dog who could barely take a step, struggling to move under the weight of a tumor as large as a rock. After seeing the photos, the team rushed to the site immediately. The massive tumor dragged along the ground every time she moved, causing open wounds and making even basic actions, including relieving herself, extremely difficult. The situation was even more serious than expected. In the deepest part of the backyard, hidden beneath trees where little sunlight reached, we discovered a wooden box. Inside were several frightened puppies, only about six months old, huddled together and trembling in fear, surrounded by their own waste. WEACT rescued all eight dogs from the property and Solsol was one of them. Overall, Solsol is a sweet girl who is learning to trust people and blossom at her own gentle pace. Solsol grew up in an unfamiliar and frightening environment before she could experience the warmth of human touch. Because of that, she can still be a little cautious at first, so it is important to approach her slowly and gently when meeting her for het first time. Once she becomes familiar, she doesnt hesitate to ask for pets and to play together! An ideal family would be one who understands that trust takes time and offer patience, time, and gentle guidance. With patience and love, she will become a truly wonderful family member. Spayed/Neutered: Yes Good with women: yes, Solsol is good with women Good with men: yes, Solsol is good with men Good with kids: yes, older children recommended as her interactions with kids has been limited Good with other dogs: yes, Solsol is very social with other dogs and seems happy to make friends with just about everyone she meets. Sometimes her play can become a little rough for others so she is still learning proper dog manners during play. But, she is improving as she spends time with her friends. Good with cats: unknown House trained: in progress Crate trained: yes - when there is a treat inside her crate, she goes in and rests Energy level: med/high - Solsol would need walks at least twice a day. She also enjoys playing with her toys and running around. Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: no, Solsol only barks when she is overly excited Flight Risk: no - but it is always recommended to double leash at the beginning to be safe Food aggressive: no Current food: kibble Walks on leash: yes, Solsol is practicing leash walks. She is currently working on noise desensitization. Leash reactive to people or dogs: no Rides well in cars: yes, but Solsol may get carsick for long distance car rides - this should subside with practice Destructive: no Needs a home with a yard: preferred Needs a home with another dog: not necessarily but having another dog to play and grow up with would help Solsol feel more comfortable and adjust faster Can live in an apartment: no Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Solsol (20260529-02), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
