My story

Sky is looking for his forever family! Sky is a very affectionate 3 year old lab mix. He lived happily in Puerto Rico for months with our foster after being surrendered because he was "too big". He has proven to be a wonderful boy who loves to be loved on! He is the type of dog that makes himself at home immediately! He will roll over for a belly rub, snag alllll the toys out of the toybox and happily investigate the house without being told to! He is curious and silly! He follows his humans from room to room just to be near them. When someone is clearly going out he will stand at the door waiting to go for a ride. He is a great traveler and does not get car sick ever after hours in the car and naps the ride away!!! Sky LOVES children and will intentionally go to where they are playing. He is learning to "sit" and 'stay" before eating and especially if he is about to be hooked up for a walk. He loves long walks and while he would love to have a fenced in yard he would also do great with an active owner who could be sure he gets his happy exercise. He does have some allergies that were much worse in PR and we hoped by bringing him to a different environment that they would begin to clear up. He is doing much better and is still on an allergy pill daily but we have promised to sponsor the cost of those allergy pills if the right family comes along. We are working on weaning him off of them and he does not require any special food or care! His adoption fee is waived for the right home. He did live among other dogs and cats in PR, and had one cat who was his best friend, but he seems to prefer smaller dogs or a quieter home either by himself, or with a calm doggy friend. He would have to be re-introduced to cats, especially crazy cats that might make a game of chase too enticing. He is potty trained, loves toys and deserves a family of his own that will advocate for him and set him up for success. That won't take much! He wants to love you!! Unless otherwise stated all dogs and puppies have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, 4DX tested(if age appropriate), Put on heartworm/flea/tick prevention, age appropriately vaccinated, dewormed, vet checked and flown from Puerto Rico. For more information on adopting please email madrescueofwny@aol.com and fill out our online application at https://form.jotform.us/70927213338153

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Skye, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
