RosieDachshund/Beagle9 years old20 poundsFostered in Raleigh TLDR: Velcro dog, hilarious howl, housetrained, gets along great with other dogs, on blood pressure medication, needs one story living or someone who can carry her up stairs. Rosie is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how you ever lived without her. This adorable Dachshund-Beagle mix (yes, a Beagle — remember that) is fully housetrained with zero accidents since day one, which means she's already ahead of most humans she'll meet. A Word of Warning: Rosie operates at DEFCON 1 on the Cling Threat Scale. If you've always wanted a shadow that's soft, wiggly, and smells like a dog — congratulations, you've found her. She will follow you everywhere. Bathroom included. You've been warned. The Whole Package Rosie has the classic Dachshund stubbornness offset by the most hilarious Beagle howl you've ever heard. It will catch you off guard every time. It never gets old. Her Hobbies Rosie is serious about her treat-dispensing ball — so serious that she'll eat her entire meals out of it. And once she's gotten every last treat out? She'll bring it back to you for fetch. Yes, she figured that out herself. She also loves tug of war, sleeping under blankets, and cuddling up in bed. Dog beds, however, remain a mystery to her — she seems to think they're just an oddly shaped treat-hiding spot. Social Butterfly Rosie is wonderful with other dogs and people. She'll bark sometimes — she's vocal, she has opinions — but she is such a good girl at heart. During play she gets wonderfully animated with growls, grunts, whines, but she's learning "Gentle" for treat time and is making great progress. A Few Things to Know Stairs are currently not in Rosie's skill set. She hasn't cracked that one yet, so she'll need a lift or a patient trainer. She also walks beautifully on a leash — seriously, her leash manners are excellent. Rosie is UTD on shots, spayed, had a dental cleaning, HW negative and microchipped. She is on blood pressure medication that she takes daily. She also had some itchy skin when she came in – it may be the spring pollen or she may need meds in the future for it. Her new family will need to travel to Raleigh to adopt her. We prefer homes in NC, VA, SC, DC area, MD, WV, eastern TN and northern GA. To get the process started of adopting her, fill out an application at www.doxiebyproxy.org/application Rosie isn't a wild, bouncing-off-the-walls puppy — she's playful and energetic when the moment calls for it, and calm and snuggly the rest of the time. She loves people, she loves dogs, and she will absolutely love you. ##2676398##
