Meet Maggie – A One-of-a-Kind Companion  Looking for a truly unique and lovable dog? Meet Maggie, a 9-year-old Yorkie mix whose youthful spirit and quirky charm defy her age and breed. She may not look like a typical Yorkie – in fact, she has a look all her own – but that only adds to her irresistible appeal. Despite a recent surgery to remove a bladder stone and a few dental extractions, Maggie is now feeling fantastic. Her sweet, affectionate personality has blossomed, and she’s ready to find a forever family who will cherish her as much as she’ll adore them.  Personality & Home Life Maggie is a calm, loving companion who enjoys simply being near her people. Whether curled up on the couch next to you or snoozing at your feet, she’s always happiest by your side. At night, she’ll settle peacefully in her bed on the floor of your bedroom and sleep soundly through the night. She’s quiet around the house – not much of a barker – though she may speak up if she sees dogs on TV or wants to impress the resident cat. Maggie gets along beautifully with other dogs, big and small. She’ll even initiate play, often sitting up on her hind legs to “beg” for attention – a move her canine housemates are still trying to decode! She hasn’t spent time around young children, but she has done well with adults and older kids who respect her space when she’s ready to rest.  Activities & Behavior Maggie is easy on the leash and enjoys leisurely walks as well as time in the backyard. She may not be a high-energy dog, but she can keep pace on longer strolls and gets delightfully spunky when she’s getting belly rubs or ear scratches. She’s not interested in toys or bones but loves treats – especially if you’re willing to share a bite of your snack (responsibly, of course!). She’s not crate-trained but does well when left alone for short periods. Her foster family keeps her in the kitchen with her bed, and she relaxes calmly until they return. One of Maggie’s more charming quirks? She stands on her front legs to pee – yes, you read that right! Her handstand potty breaks are always a conversation starter and a guaranteed laugh.  Health & Care Maggie recently had a bladder stone removed and is currently on a urinary care diet. While it’s not certain she’ll need to remain on this food long-term, it’s important for her future family to continue monitoring her urinary health with a veterinarian. Otherwise, Maggie is a healthy girl and up to date on all vet care. Her adopter should be prepared, as with any dog, to provide routine and unexpected veterinary attention as she ages.  Ideal Home Maggie would thrive in a calm home where someone is around for much of the day to give her love and companionship. She’s independent but truly blossoms with attention. A fenced yard is a plus, but she would also do well in an apartment, as long as you’re committed to taking her out frequently. She will quietly sit by the door to indicate she needs to go out – she doesn’t bark or whine – so attentiveness to her subtle cues is important.  Maggie’s Story Maggie came to us after her previous owner was unable to afford the surgery she needed. She’s been through a lot, but her resilience and sweet nature are inspiring. Now, she’s looking for a forever family who will give her the love, care, and comfort she truly deserves.
