My story

Hi, I'm Tonka! I’m a 14-week-old German Shepherd puppy with a big body, an even bigger heart, and a gentle soul. I was the biggest pup in my litter, but don’t let that fool you—I’m also the biggest baby! I love cuddles, attention, and being close to people who make me feel safe. Life hasn’t been easy so far. My previous family couldn’t afford to care for me, my 2 sisters, and my brother, so they surrendered us to animal control. They tried to find me a home, but when that didn’t work out, I ended up here at Central Arizona Animal Rescue. But I’m staying hopeful—because I know my forever family is out there, and I can’t wait to meet them. Here’s a little about me: I’ve been vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, so I’m ready to go! I’ve never lived inside a house before, so I’m still learning about house-training. I don’t know how to walk on a leash yet—but I’m excited to learn! I haven’t met any cats or kids, so I’m not sure how I’ll react. I’m a little shy around new people, but I do well with other dogs and warm up once I feel safe. I’m still figuring out the world, and I need a family who will be patient, loving, and willing to teach me all the things I’ve missed. I promise to give you all the love I have—and grow into a loyal, gentle companion who will be by your side through everything.
