My story

Please read bio fully. Audrey is approximately 4 to 6 years old and weighs 7.6 pounds. She is VERY comical , silly and LOVES other dogs and loves to play. She absolutely needs another friendly dog in the home. Audrey depends a lot on her dog friends, they bring her comfort and help navigate the world. Audrey is deaf and blind in her right eye due to an injury. She is currently on two eye antibiotics and her eye will be healed. However she has very poor vision, If any at all in that right eye, her left eye is completely fine and she can see. She is mostly deaf possibly fully deaf. I am not sure she is 100% deaf only because once in a while, I can tell she is trying to hear or navigate something. It may just be vibrations. She is a hoot so be ready for a weirdo to come take over your life. To say Audrey is quirky is an understatement. She does have some mild neurological issues and a head tilt , she does not have seizures, she does not circle, she navigates life perfectly fine. She plays, goes upstairs, goes in and out of the dog door, jumps on top of dog beds, she can find things perfectly fine, she eats, drinks, she is just a little different. Audrey is a bit timid with new people but once she gets to know you, she is super duper sweet and excited to see you. She was a bit hard to catch on day one and two but now I squat down and put my hands out and she squats down waiting to be picked up, she caught onto that very quickly and she lets me pick her up no problems. She loves when I rub her chest and give her kisses. We have a lot of videos of Audrey being Audrey we can share with potential adopters. We know that taking on a special needs dog is a big responsibility, but it is also one of the most humbling experiences you will ever have. Audrey is quiet, well mannered, even walks on leash and harness once she knows you and her surroundings, but you do have to understand she could only see out of one eye and she is deaf so all new things are very scary for her and extra precautions need to be taken in her first few days at her new home. A fenced yard would be beneficial. Lots of routine and consistency is best. And most of all, a dog that would love a companion and a little shadow, she adores the dogs and makes fast friends. When she first came to the rescue, we put her by herself because we were afraid the other dogs may be too much for her and her gentle little soul, but we quickly realize she was extremely depressed and as soon as I put her with other dogs, her whole world just lit up. She is such a happy and loving dog and we all just love her so so much. She was found as a stray in the Houston area and a nice person brought her to us. We cannot wait to see her blossom in her new and improved life . Audrey will bring so much joy to your life. You just cannot be around her and not laugh or smile. Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. To get approved please visit our website www.texaschihuahuarescuecanada.org to fill in an application to adopt.
