My story

Meet Marcy! Marcy may look like she just rolled out of bed, but don’t let her permanently drowsy expression fool you—this 12-year-old, 12-pound Alabama girl has a surprise in her backstory. Before making her way to NYC, Marcy was a girl on the run. She was caught by animal control, brought to our rescue partners… and then promptly escaped their van for a quick joy lap around the property. Safe to say, she’s got some serious track star credentials. Now settling into city life, Marcy is a quiet, calm presence in her foster home. She’s on the timid side, preferring to hang out on her own and watch the world from a safe distance, but she’s slowly warming up—especially to the person she knows as “the food lady.” She’ll happily follow you to the kitchen for fresh meals and freeze-dried treats (her favorites!), but still retreats to her cozy crate or bed if she feels too much attention on her. Marcy loves her crate—it’s her safe space where she can fully relax and recharge. She would do best in a home that respects her need for downtime and provides her with a comfy, quiet place of her own. Marcy is most at ease outdoors and perks up noticeably when she sees other dogs. She loves sniffing in the grass and would thrive in a home with a calm canine companion to help boost her confidence. Because of her skittish nature, Marcy must always be secured with a properly fitted harness backed up to a collar using a carabiner when outside. She’s far too quick and nervous to be walked in Manhattan without secure gear, so her adopter should be committed to keeping her safe on every outing. She’s still working on housebreaking and will need a patient adopter who can help her settle into a consistent routine. Marcy’s perfect home: Quiet and low-traffic Ideally has a friendly resident dog A patient adopter who will give her the time and space she needs to blossom Committed to using secure, double-clip gear for every walk Will give her a cozy crate to call her own If you’re looking for a gentle soul to share your home—and don’t mind earning her trust one small moment at a time—Marcy just might be your sleepy little track star. To apply for Marcy, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2476273##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Marcy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
