My story

Some people say shelters only get pitbulls...that's bull! Meet Bull, a handsome and exuberant boy who seems to be some sort of poodle mix. He was brought into the shelter in pretty rough shape, with severe matting of his face and friendly behavior. Bull has been a champ for his grooming and his shave and is now ready to go home to a forever family where he can be treated faBULLously. Bull is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly- you can meet him any day from 10am-6pm! Video: + Playgroup 8/11: Smooches, Bull https://youtu.be/g9aKfd9wMbA + Happy boy: https://youtube.com/shorts/dR3XlBDH1tU?si=nJk-GJQ8cTXY92Be Behavior Notes: Bull playing: https://youtu.be/JWBUANN_eQE Bull takes pets: https://youtu.be/kVkSo4YCW4s Play group 8/11/25: Good greetings, interested, high tail, soft eyes, gave sniffs, mounts, responded well to correction Per Volunteer 8/11/25: When I approached his kennel, he was sitting on his bed and he slowly came towards the front. Reached my leash in, and he sniffed it for a minute, and then I easily looped it around his neck. On leash he zigzags a bit while walking and spins around a lot. He seems to have extremely itchy ears, shaking his head nonstop. He was vocal with frequent single barks. There were other dogs in the vicinity, and when we left their presence, the barking stopped. While walking and sniffing, his tail remained upright and stiff and the rest of his body language was quite loose. He jumped up on me every so often. In the play yard he was quite active and enjoyed chasing after toys. He jumped up on me with his front two paws quite frequently as he was playing. He takes treats really well out of my hand, doesn’t seem to know any commands. He took pets from me and seemed to be fine with handling. His tail even when it’s wagging is completely straight up, so I think that just might be how it always looks. When other dogs walked by, he would run towards the fence and hard bark with a high tail and stiff body language. Very jumpy and would recommend adults just so he doesn’t accidentally knock anyone over. When I put him back in kennel he tried to grab the leash with his mouth and pull on it slightly then let go. Per Staff 8/10/25: Kennel Presentation: Standing at the front, middle tail, loose body. Jumped on the gate and barked once, ears back and soft eyes. Easy to leash Leash Skills: Pulls minimally to moderately. Sociability: Highly social with me, soliciting pets, loose and soft body Likes cheese, takes it gently. Didn’t respond to sit. Play: No interest in toys. Liked playing tag with me. Light jumping and mouthing while playing, gentle panting, loose and wiggly Dog Interaction: Saw a dog walking by outside and tail was high and stiff, began barking at the fence. Return to Kennel: Went right in, turned and tried to come back out. Easy to unleash once in. Color Level: Gold Recommendations and considerations: Deserves a great home, he was matted and highly neglected. Exercise, socialization and training will help him thrive! Per Staff 8/8/25: Bull did VERY well for his shave today! He was very nervous at first, understandably, but once he realized that I was getting the matted fur off, he did his very best to cooperate with me. Due to time constraints, I wasn't able to get everything off, but I was able to get his head, neck, back, and sides clean, and he felt so much better afterwards! We went for a victory lap around the building and he did some jumping and prancing to stretch out now that the mats weren't pulling on him. Afterwards, we went over to Dog Intake, and Bull was very good for his vaccines! He's a sweetheart and loving his new look! - ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
