My story

** $360 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Minnie ACCT-A-223424 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Minnie must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, or ADOPTER by Thursday, July 10TH at 10AM. Should Minnie's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.  Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. Minnie is a cow-cat with everyone's favorite feature: a little black nose. Her owner surrendered her to ACCT when they were moving to a home with children, and Minnie was unable to adjust. Unfortunately, Minnie is also struggling here in the shelter, and urgently needs to leave with a rescue or an adopter that can give Minnie a stable, quiet environment to decompress.  The notes left by Minnie's owner paint the picture of a cat that we haven't been able to see here.  Per Owner: “Lived with children, fully litter trained, low energy. Favorite activities are independent play with toys, hiding, napping and relaxing, scratching on posts/scratch pads, snuggling/being a lap cat and being petted. Has the behavioral issues of anxiety/stress, scratching on furniture/carpets, fearful/nervous/shy behavior and aggression towards children. Has bitten a person, they were invading her space. Nervous/fearful/shy with strangers and other cats, aggressive with children. Hissing, low growling and scratching when aggressive. The ideal home is a couple with no children, possibly someone who is older. She comes when you call her name and will lay down if you tell her to.” The owners favorite thing about her is, “How affectionate she use to be before the changes. She really is a sweet cat, the just changed unexpectedly and it’s too much for her. She has anxiety.” Per staff 7/6: “I presented the petting wand to Minnie, her pupils dilatated, ears pulled back, she started growling and vocalizing. When I moved the petting wand closer to the kennel she hissed and swatted at the wand through the kennel.” Per staff 7/6: “Minnie rushed to the front of her kennel, ears pulled back, hissing at me. She growled and lunged at the kennel door.
