** $910 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** **New notes 7/11!** ** EXTENDED ** Campanita ACCT-A-224684 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Campanita must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, EXPERENCED FOSTER or ADOPTER by FRIDAY, JULY 11TH at 10AM. Should Campanita's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. Campanita is a guy with just the right amount of fluffiness, and just the wrong amount of anxiety. He was given to his owner by someone who could no longer care for him, and then surrendered to us, when his owners were moving into housing that would not allow pets. Unfortunately, Campanita has shown an extreme level of fear and reactivity in the shelter, and it is no longer humane to keep him in such an environment, where every sensation is accompanied by fear. Behavior notes 7/3 First check in attempt- cat was hissing, swatting, lunging, growling and tense body. 7/6 When approaching Campanita's kennel he hissed with flat ears and dilated pupils. I took my phone out to attempt to take a picture of him through the kennel, he hissed and was swatting at my phone through the kennel. *NEW!* 7/11: Today I visited Campanita and he was hissing and spitting from the top shelf. I got up on a step ladder to be closer to his level and made purring sounds and other cat sounds. He stopped hissing and settled. After a few minutes, his eyes softened, he was no longer hard staring and he put his front feet under him. I then placed his food and water in the cage with no incident. He stayed up on the shelf and did no vocalize or hiss at all. Campanita's owner described him as "calm," but not litter trained. We think this might make Campanita a good candidate for a working cat placement, since he might have some previous experience as an outdoor cat. Unfortunately, we have not seen a side of Campanita that isn't colored with fear. We are hopeful that in the right environment, Campanita will be able to relax and live alongside his human friends. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly’s Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Campanita, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
