My story

Meet Max! This 1-year-old husky is smart, affectionate, and bursting with energy. He’s the kind of dog who’s always up for an adventure—or at least a good game of fetch in the yard. Max loves to play and will thrive in an active home that can match his enthusiasm for life. He’s crate trained (a helpful tool, since he might get a little curious about your furniture if left alone and bored) and house trained. Max has lived with other dogs and done well, although he is sometimes not sure about new dogs. If you have a pup at home, you should bring them to meet him. He’s also lived with kids as young as 11. We don’t know how he does with cats. True to his breed, Max will do best with a family who’s ready to keep him mentally and physically stimulated. He’s a loving, lively companion who’s ready to be your sidekick on all life’s adventures. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
