My story

Meet Lobo, a 1-year-old husky who’s smart, affectionate, and always ready for action. True to his breed, Lobo has energy to spare and thrives on activity, adventure, and connection with his people. He loves to play with other dogs and has done well living with kids as young as 11. Lobo is house trained and crate trained—which is handy, because if he's left alone and bored, he might try out his woodworking skills on your furniture. He’ll do best in an active home that can keep up with his high-energy lifestyle and give him plenty of mental and physical exercise. We don’t have any history on how he does with cats. If you're looking for a clever, loving companion who’s up for anything, Lobo might just be your guy. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
