Meet CJ — the dog equivalent of that one overly enthusiastic coworker who shows up early, volunteers for everything, and somehow still has energy to organize the office party. CJ isn’t just happy-go-lucky—he’s joy in dog form. He wants to be wherever you are, doing whatever you’re doing, preferably with his tail wagging like it’s powered by sunshine and caffeine. Folding laundry? He’s your supervisor. On a Zoom call? He’s your emotional support staff. Trying to take a bathroom break in peace? Not on his watch, friend. He’s got a heart as big as his curiosity and truly believes life is more fun when you’re doing it together. Meet CJ – a 4-month-old, 21lb Great Pyrenees mix with the heart of a warrior and the soul of a golden retriever who just wants to love you a lot. This fluffy little survivor found himself dumped at a shelter with his siblings Mojave and Gladitor, they are known as our Jeep Litter, and just when he thought he was finally safe in our Fluffy Butt family, life threw him a plot twist called Parvo. But don’t worry—CJ wasn’t about to let that stop him. He battled through like the pint-sized hero he is. He’s sweet, social, and starting fresh with a new lease on life—now he just needs someone to share it with. CJ loves other dogs and is basically the overly friendly guy at a party who shows up uninvited, immediately hugs everyone, and assumes he's been best friends with your dog since birth. As for cats… well, he hasn’t officially met one, but we’re guessing he’d approach it the same way he approaches life in general: with wide-eyed curiosity, a wagging tail, and absolutely no sense of personal boundaries. If the cat tells him to scram, he’ll probably do a confused little circle and try again five minutes later. Tiny humans? CJ hasn’t been around kids just yet, but the good news is he’s over the land-shark phase of puppydom. He may try to enthusiastically greet them with a surprise boop to the chest. He responds well to correction though. With people, he plays it cool. CJ is the type who hangs back like, “I don’t know you… yet,” and then once he decides you're worthy, it’s game over. You’re his person now. Expect tail wags, cuddles, and the full velcro dog experience. CJ’s energy level sits comfortably at a 7 out of 10—which is basically the sweet spot between “let’s go on an adventure!” and “okay fine, I’ll nap… but only if you nap too.” Picture a mix between a baby goat and a golden retriever: bouncy, curious, and absolutely thrilled to be part of whatever is going on. He loves to explore outside, chase his brothers around the yard like it’s a competitive sport, and then come inside for a well-earned snooze before starting the cycle all over again. Despite everything he’s been through—like, you know, surviving parvo like a tiny warrior—CJ has somehow managed to keep his happy-go-lucky outlook fully intact. He’s the kind of pup who wants to be involved in everything. You cooking dinner? He’s your sous chef. Folding laundry? He’ll handle quality control. Sitting down to relax? He’s got snuggles ready. He just wants to be near his people and his pack, preferably in the center of the action. When it comes to playtime, CJ is that puppy—the first one to grab a toy, rally the troops, and initiate a full-blown game of tag. And when it’s time to go inside? He’s the one giving you the “five more minutes?” look. He’s respectful of dogs who don’t want to join in, but he’s always hoping someone will say yes to just one more round of play. As far as living arrangements go, CJ isn’t meant for apartment life—he needs space to stretch those long legs and chase imaginary squirrels across the yard. A securely fenced yard would be his version of heaven, giving him a safe place to burn off his puppy energy and live out his dream of being everyone’s favorite backyard MVP. Let’s get one thing straight: CJ is adorable, yes. Fluffy? Absolutely. Basically a walking Disney sidekick with a comeback story? No doubt. But he is still a puppy, which means anyone expecting a perfectly trained, low-maintenance, decorative dog should probably go ahead and keep scrolling. Potty training? We're getting there. He’s got the general idea, but if you go off schedule...Socialization? He’s doing great with dogs and warming up to people beautifully, but don’t expect him to walk into a crowded farmer’s market and act like a therapy dog. He’s still building confidence and discovering the joy of new experiences. And let’s talk puppy-proofing. If your house is a minimalist oasis filled with expensive rugs, fragile decor, and a deep-seated fear of mess… run. Just run. CJ is in the stage where everything is interesting. He has not been a big chewer, but he is a puppy, and if you tempt the pup.....don't say we didn't warn you ;) So, if you’ve made it this far and your heart is doing that little flutter thing… it might just be fate (or CJ’s puppy eyes working their magic). If you're ready for a sweet, playful fluffball who’ll follow you around like you're the most important person on Earth—because to him, you will be—go ahead and fill out that adoption application. at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Just keep in mind—CJ isn’t Amazon Prime eligible. You’ll need to come scoop him up in McAlester, OK. But trust us... one look into those eyes and you’ll know he was worth every mile.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt CJ, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
