My story

If you’re looking for a wild party animal or an energetic hiking buddy… keep scrolling. But if you’re in the market for a regal floof who stares into your soul while silently requesting ear scritches, Ava might just be your queen. Introducing… Avalanche Ava — the soft-spoken snow queen who didn’t come to cause a scene…unless you dare pet her too enthusiastically or forget to comment on her beauty, in which case she will silently judge you with the intensity of a thousand blizzards. Ava is the type of gal who floats into a room like mist over a mountaintop—elegant, mysterious, and has got those big, soulful eyes. Avalanche Ava: because sometimes, the most powerful forces in nature don’t roar—they raise a brow and sigh dramatically. Avalanche Ava is around 5–6 months old, a great pyrenees mix, and didn’t exactly roll in from the mountains—but she did tumble into our lives as part of a very real rescue mission. Let’s just say someone got way in over their head with dogs, and thanks to the help of a local shelter, we were able to welcome 14 puppies into our fluffy butt family—Ava included. With so many mouths to feed and paws to care for, it’s no surprise that Ava came to us a little unsure of the world. But every day, she takes another brave step forward—learning that the next meal is guaranteed, that hands can be kind, and that squeaky toys are, in fact, magical. Ava’s heart is big, her fluff is even bigger, and her future? Well, that’s about to be avalanche-sized too. Avalanche Ava is that polite party guest who really wants to mingle with the cool crowd (aka the big dog pack) but also knows when to take a hint. If another dog gives her the “not today, ma’am” side-eye, she gracefully backs off and moves along like a true professional in social dog etiquette. That said, when it comes to her brother? All bets are off. The zoomies commence, and suddenly the backyard turns into a full-blown action sequence—minus the soundtrack. As for cats? Well, she hasn't officially met one, so whether she thinks they’re potential BFFs or featherless birds is still TBD. Tiny humans? Ava’s still working on her "people are safe" folder. She wags her tail when she sees kids, but she hasn’t interacted with any under 13 yet. Given her introverted vibes, she’s more of a "wave politely from across the room and avoid sticky fingers" kind of gal. When it comes to meeting new adults, Ava prefers the slow burn. She’s not charging the door like a furry greeting committee, but give her a minute (and a comfy sit-down), and she’ll come check you out. Avalanche Ava clocks in at a solid 5 out of 10 on the energy scale—think a tasteful blend of housecat and mildly curious alpaca. She has bursts of energy when the mood strikes (especially when her brother convinces her to join him in some backyard zoom choreography), but overall, she’s more of a “thank you, no” kind of gal when it comes to constant excitement. Cartoons, a plush bed, and a calm environment? Now that’s her jam. We’re pretty sure her spirit animal is a pajama-wearing librarian who occasionally moonlights as a squirrel chaser. Temperament-wise, Ava is what we’d call a soft-spoken queen. She watches the world with the kind of wise, slightly judgmental stare that says, “I’ve seen things”—and she prefers her affection gentle, her compliments genuine, and her personal space respected until she gives the royal nod of approval. Tell her she’s pretty and pet her softly, and you’ll be rewarded with the tiniest tail wag and maybe—a look of appreciation. Her hobbies include quiet backyard adventures, lightly bossing her brother around, and supervising the TV from her bed like a very fluffy critic. She’ll play with toys and run around when she’s feeling frisky, but napping remains her primary love language. Sunspots, soft blankets, and reruns of whatever you’re watching are absolutely acceptable ways to spend a day. Given her size and preference for peace over pandemonium, Ava could thrive in a cozy apartment with regular walks or a securely fenced yard where she can vibe at her own pace. She's not picky, as long as the energy is calm and the furniture is soft. In short: if you're looking for a chill, emotionally intelligent pup with big eyes and even bigger nap goals—Ava might just be the couchside philosopher you've been dreaming of. Now, before you go picturing yourself living your best life with Ava snuggled next to you in perfect harmony—let’s have a quick reality check. She is still a puppy, which means you’ll need to be ready for the full starter pack of life skills she’s still working on. Potty training? She’s getting the hang of it, but you’ll want to keep your mop and sense of humor close by. Leash training? Let’s just say Ava is still deciding whether walking in a straight line with a human attached is a hobby she’s willing to adopt. Socialization? She’s warming up to the idea that not all strangers are out to steal her snacks, but she’ll need patient humans who understand the concept of “earning trust.” And finally, let’s talk puppy-proofing. You’ll want to look at your home the way a baby-proofing expert with anxiety would. That decorative basket? Suspicious. The charging cords? Bold choice. Anything below knee-level? Ask yourself: “Do I love this item? Or do I really love this dog?” Because while Ava isn’t a destructive tornado, she is a curious baby still learning what’s off-limits. So, if you’ve made it this far and aren’t scared off by a little puppy sass, emotional depth, and the occasional “what even is that noise?” moment—congrats, you might just be worthy of Avalanche Ava’s inner circle. Just one last thing: you gotta fill out that adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app (no, sadly, psychic connection isn’t an approved method of claiming her), and you’ll need to come scoop up your new fluffy roommate in Claremore, OK. We don’t offer delivery—this isn’t Amazon Prime, people.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Avalanche Ava, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
