0884 Petey Pablo

My story

Petey Pablo is fostered in the greater Kansas City, MO area. Petey Pablo is a dashing male red merle Australian Shepherd with two bright blue eyes. He is 3 ½  and has slimmed down from 51l bs to a healthier 42 lbs! He came into rescue because he just wasn’t comfortable living with small children and needed a quieter home to relax and feel safe.  Petey is a clever, food motivated boy! He already knows lots of fun tricks, including sit, stay, down, shake, spin, drop it, stop and go! He loves to learn and makes training super fun and easy. He is crate trained (but may softly whine for the first couple minutes before settling down to nap) and fully house trained. Petey is a lower energy guy, and is perfectly happy to nap the day away, but will never say no to a game of tug! He loves his toys and enjoys carrying them around and playing with them. He enjoys leisurely walks and thrives off of routine and structure.  With his people, Petey is the most affectionate and snuggly little guy! Cuddles and naps are his favorite and he loves to spend quality time with his humans. With strangers, he can be a little reserved at first but warms up quickly (especially when treats are involved!). Petey prefers to take his time warming up to new dogs. When he sees them, he might offer a bark or two, but he's a quick learner and appreciates a gentle redirection. After proper slow introductions, he gets along great with the other dog in his foster home and is neutral with the cats.  His intelligence, gentle nature and happy personality will make him a great fit for the right home. For Petey, the perfect home would include someone who is willing to give him lots of love, attention and cuddles. Though he is lower energy, he still needs plenty of mental stimulation and would enjoy a home with those who want to continue training with him as he loves to learn. He needs a home without children or small animals, and who are willing to give him time and space to warm up to any existing pets as he settles in.  Petey Pablo is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
