My story

Kevin is fostered in Waterford, MI. Meet Kevin – your next adventure buddy! Kevin is a 1-2 ish year old, 54-pound, blue merle male Australian Shepherd (probably mixed with Border Collie) with a huge heart! This handsome guy is full of life and ready to bring joy to his adoptive home. Whether it’s a hike in the woods or a game of fetch in the yard, Kevin is always up for the challenge. Like many young Aussies, Kevin is great with the appropriate amount of mental and physical stimulation. Kevin would be a great candidate for someone who needs a running partner, participate in dog sports, or a regular hiking buddy.  Kevin currently attends doggie daycare for some mental and physical enrichment and has done great.   Kevin is very social and loves every person and every dog that he meets.  He come to rescue with zero manners and no training so this is an area his foster home has been focusing on.  Kevin is eager to please and responds well to positive reinforcement and treats.  We do recommend an adopter who will provide a consistent structure and training to help him become the best version of himself.  Kevin has done great with grooming, car rides and was a very good boy at the vet's office.   Kevin is potty trained and crate trained. Kevin needs adopter who has some prior experience with herding or working breed experience.  He would also like a strong leader, someone willing to set boundaries and structure.  We do suggest a home without little ones and a physically fenced yard would be ideal (but not required).  Kevin was never taught manners in the past, so someone that is willing to do some obedience training with him is highly recommended.  Obedience training is a wonderful bonding tool.     Kevin is neutered, microchipped, negative for all tick born diseases, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
