My story

Cooper is being fostered in Griffith, IN This stunning hunk is Cooper!  He is a standard blue merle male Australian Shepherd.  Cooper weighs 41l bs and is on the smaller side of a standard.  He was a stray and came from the local animal control.  Our vet tells us he is about 2-3 years old.  Cooper has transitioned to home life perfectly! When he first came to us, he didn't know very much, but as you know, aussies are SUPER smart so he has learned SO much about having good house manners.  Cooper is crate trained, potty trained and walks well on leash.  He gets a little excited on his walks when he sees friends: humans, other dogs, squirrels, etc. His foster mom has been training him on a gentle leader and he is doing well with this!  The gentle leader has made all the difference in the world on this boy and his leash manners.   Cooper LOVES toys!  Stuffed toys, tugs and frisbee!  Cooper will need an assortment of toys in his forever home. His foster mom took him to an agility club to try him on some of the equipment and he picked it up quickly!  No surprise there!  He enjoys a challenge, learning new things and is highly food motivated.  Cooper likes to also play fetch, but he hasn't quite learned how to drop it yet, he would rather play chase me!  Cooper really enjoys playing with other dogs, so a doggie playmate would be nice but not needed for him.  Cooper is crated during the day while his foster parents are at work and does well when his people are away.  Cooper will need someone with leadership skillls, some aussie (or herding breed) knowledge, and someone that will commit to a minimum of 2 hours a day with him.  We do ot recommend super young children with Cooper only because of his exhuberance, he might knock them over accidentally.  Cooper is a 7 on the 1-10 scale of activity.  While he could be a great jogging partner, agility partner, hiking anfd camping partner, he does have a nice off switch.  Cooper is still learning that vacuums, baths, nail trims, brushing are not scary.  H Cooper is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and taking monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm. ##1944129##
