My story

Finn is fostered in Bloomington, IL Although he is loveable, clumsy, and a giant ball of fluff, don’t be fooled: Finn is actually a dog and NOT a panda bear.  This 80 lb lovebug will warm your heart much like he warms his foster mom’s feet every night, laying in bed. Finn came into foster care when his previous owner unexpectedly had to move into an assisted living facility, and although he is stubborn as can be, he has acclimated so quickly and become a part of the family.  Finn wants nothing more than a yard to roam, a family to love, and a spot on the couch. He warmed up to his foster home’s cat in no time and he absolutely loves his dog foster brother, a 6 year old Aussie. Finn has a lot of GO-GO-GO energy and would be the perfect companion running errands, playing at the park, or simply walking through the neighborhood. Due to his size and energy level, a home without small children and small dogs would be best as Finn is clumsy and would easily sit or lay on top of them at any chance given. He is 80 lbs of complete goofball, smiles and all.   Our giant goober loves to be outside and terrorize the town AKA chase bunnies, bark at neighbors walking their dogs and howl at planes overhead. He is also an escapee otherwise known as dying to get outside any time his foster parents leave. Because of this behavior, he needs either a completely secure, fenced in outdoor space, or lots of land to roam with his person. Finn does not like being confined to small spaces; it raises his anxiety and causes him to panic, so crating him is not recommended. Great news though! He has never had an accident in the house, and he is respectful of his surroundings when given the lay of the land. He currently roams the house openly with his foster brother whenever his foster parents leave for a few hours, and he is perfectly content with sleeping on the couch and watching a good movie in the meantime. Being more social than his foster momma, Finn loves making new friends but does not know the definition of personal space - so introverts beware! He loves to lay on top of his foster brother, paw at his foster parents’ faces, snuggle on his people, and sleep close by. He has loved every new person he has met thus far, and he is not afraid to make it known (you will leave with lots of kisses and even more fur on your clothes after meeting him). It did take a few weeks for him to completely be comfortable with his foster family telling him what to do and being able to fully handle him (wiping his paws, ears, etc), but please remember, trust is earned. Finn is potty-trained, knows basic commands, and hates being told “no.” He is stubborn and sweet and will melt your heart when smiling at you. Estimated to be around 4-5 years old, up to date on all shots, and he’s an all-around good boy who needs a family willing to continue his training and recall whilst giving him all the love they have to offer. He deserves it. Finn’s Non-negotiables:- A family to continue recall training and to continue keeping him in a routine structure- A large fenced-in area or a lot of land to roam- A family that is home more often than not Finn is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2421192##
