My story

Bentley is fostered in Pleasonton, KS. Meet Bentley.  Bentley is what we like to call "a work in progress".  He is a crotchety old man in the body of a 2-3 year old Australian Shepherd, that currently weighs about 50 lbs.  He was previously with an owner, who had to surrender him due to some medical issues.  While we believe she had the best of intentions, this has led Bentley to believe he is a tiny little mob boss that needs to defend his territory.  Bentley needs a self help book that can help him become a "better self" because he is holding a grudge the size of Texas.   Bentley is house trained and just recently learned to use a doggie door.  He does like to wander around the neighborhood on leash, but he decides when and how long.  His still learning that not all 4 legged creatures want to eat him, but this is another chapter in his self help book.  He has a crusty bed that smells like victory and demands his food bowl be filled by 5 pm or there's consequences.  His foster mom continues to find solutions that makes this bad boy tick.  She has discovered that Reconcile helps take the edge off, like a bottle of Pepto Bismol. Let's talk about weightloss.  Bentley arrived about 10 lbs overweight.  He's not actually seeking out Jenny Craig, but he is slowing comng around to the idea that this might make him a little more desireable to fellow suitors. He might sigh deeply when you ask him to go for a "fun walk." It’s not fun. It’s cardio, and he doesn't willingly consent. Bentley is a talker. The more you talk to him, the more he wants to make you re-evaluate your life choices.  Bentley is crate trained and his crate is his safe place.  Bentley is also a lower energy guy.  Bentley is slower to warm up, but again, he's not here for a good time —  he desires an efficient, orderly, structured environment. With snacks. And silence. Bentley's ideal home is one with less comings and goings, a physically fenced yard and a patient person(s) who has the desire to work with a creature who came out of the womb with a bad attitude. Children screaming for no reason, he has no tolerance for and zero regrets.  We also would recommend another seamingly normal, social butterfly with a tolerance for grumpy old men, although this is not required for him. We know there is is an ounce of kindness deep down in this curmudgeon. We just need someone who can find it.  Please tell us that is you! Bentley is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2407689##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt 0854 Bentley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
