He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to his stress levels, it is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. He would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give him plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers. Medically Marine is apparently healthy.Marine interacts with the observer and appreciates attention, but he has the potential for overstimulation. His behavior remains suitable for an experienced adopter, provided the adopter is aware of these behaviors and his behavior history and is able to comfortably manage them. Marine would require an adult-only home.A volunteer writes: When Marine didn't have a place to go, he tried to make himself small by cuddling himself up in the root of a tree. It's hard to miss this bright and fluffy dream cat, so someone waited with him, petting him for comfort until help arrived. Now that Marine has his own condo with us, he feels much more comfortable asking for those pets he loves so much. Dancing across the front of his condo and exuberantly throwing himself into every type of cuddle and snuggle you can imagine, Marine is only trying to be a friend. The very affectionate and attentive type. Softly kneading his blanket to himself whenever I wasn't paying attention to him, Marine patiently waited for his next chance.
