Take a Chance on Me-ow!Ready for his second chance, along with cozy naps, soft pets, and a kind heart to call home, Chance is learning that life doesn’t always have to be difficult. After a rough start that left him with a few battle scars, this tender-hearted boy is beginning to believe in love. He’s not looking for perfection, just someone patient, gentle, and willing to let trust grow one quiet moment at a time.ABOUT CHANCE- At shelter- Chance is a recent graduate of EHS’s socialization program. While his love takes a bit of time to simmer, once he is well acquainted, Chance bubbles over with affection and curiosity, always keen for chest rubs and friendly gameplay.- Described as sweet, sensitive, and a little lazy, Chance loves chin, cheek, and ear scritches.- He takes time to warm up to people and may initially appear reserved. However, with gentle coaxing and encouragement, Chance is a total snuggle bug and will head-butt you for plenty of pets.- Yummy treats, catnip, and feather toys are sure ways to gain this sweet boy’s trust.- Chance has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat but is not transmissible to humans or other species.- Chance is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.CHANCE’S IDEAL HOME- Chance is a laid-back fellow, and his ideal home would be a calm and safe space where he can relax comfortably and explore freely.- He would benefit from adopters who will gently encourage his confidence through treats and play.- Chance could join a home with another FIV+ cat, but he would also be content as the sole feline. - We are not yet certain how Chance would feel about sharing a home with other animals. Given that he can sometimes be startled by sudden movements and loud noises, a quiet home without young children or dogs is likely to suit him best.- Chance does not require medication but vet checkups twice a year are recommended.- Cats who have FIV can live just as long as other cats if they are properly cared for with a good diet, an indoor home, and a loving family. If you’re ready to take a second, Chance would love it if you filled out an adoption application to help him find the soft landing he’s been waiting for!If you have any questions about Chance or the adoption process, please contact cats@etobicokehumanesociety.com
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chance, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
