My story

Take a Chance on Me-ow! Ready for his second chance, along with cozy naps, soft pets, and a kind heart to call home, Chance is learning that life doesn’t always have to be difficult. After a rough start that left him with a few battle scars, this tender-hearted boy is beginning to believe in love. He’s not looking for perfection, just someone patient, gentle, and willing to build trust one quiet moment at a time. ABOUT CHANCE- In shelter- Chance is a skittish cat with minimal experience around humans. He was rescued from life outdoors after a Good Samaritan who was caring for his stray cat colony noticed that he needed medical attention.- Described as sweet and sensitive by our volunteers, Chance loves chin, cheek, and ear scritches, especially when snuck in slowly and gently.- He takes time to warm up to people and will startle if he’s approached too directly.- Chance has a surprising fondness for a Dollarama duster. Yes, really! He has also demonstrated his playful side with wand toys.- Chance is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help him become more comfortable around people.- Chance has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat but is not transmissible to humans or other species.- Chance is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.CHANCE’S IDEAL HOME- A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children and with patient adopters who understand that love is cultivated at a steady pace.- Chance is seeking a human who is familiar with feline body language and will respect his boundaries.- Chance would like a home where he can relax comfortably and feel safe to explore.- We are not yet certain how Chance would feel about sharing a home with other animals.- Cats who have FIV can live just as long as other cats if they are properly cared for with a good diet, an indoor home, and a loving family.- Chance does not require medication, but vet checkups twice a year are recommended.- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Chance settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Chance with a successful transition to his forever home.If you’re ready to take a second, Chance would love it if you fil
