My story

Meet Hero Dog Rescue's latest stealthy heartthrob, Little Miss Pom-Pom! Why "stealthy heartthrob"? Because she is quiet as a mouse (not even a bark!) and she'll steal your heart before you can say, "I'm not a small dog person." Why "little Pom Pom"? Because she is a backyard breeder's attempt to create a miniature Pomeranian, and tops the scale at just 8 lbs. Who is PomPom? Temperament: This little girl is a TREASURE and will bring endless joy to her forever family (if she's not foster-failed first). She doesn't bark. ever. (This is a rarity for Pomeranians💯) She may whisper/whimper on a rare occasion to let you know she wants to be with you. Other than that, mum's the word. Best Matched With: She'd be a perfect addition for empty-nesters, singles, homeowners, or apartment dwellers. She’s fantastic with other dogs. Due to her diminutive stature, young children may not be a good fit as they are typically less careful. She does #velcro her CFG (Chief Food Giver). Favorite Activities: She chewing on baby bully sticks. Ironically, her halitosis was temporarily cured thanks to the stick scraping the teeth. She also loves to follow her CFG/human around and is game for going anywhere (especially if you can carry her in a puppy pouch or sling). She quickly learned to walk on a leash and can keep up with other dogs. But she may tell you she's done when she plops her bum down and gives you the Betty-Davis-eyes stare. 👀 Health Status: While she was a product of a backyard breeder who neglected her and her 40+ siblings/friends, she is an amazing, #resilient little girl! Considering her age (between 8-10 years old) and level of neglect (no dental cleanings, grooming, etc.), Pom Pom does have a heart condition and the start of cataracts. But you would never know it when you meet her in person. She's a grateful, happy little girl. Here's the good news: The vet was incredibly optimistic that Pom Pom will live a longer life if she sheds 3 lbs and remains on her daily heart med. #easypeasylemonsqueezy The vet prescribed walking and a set eating routine to regain her svelte figure (and to minimize further health issues). She's already crushing her walking and eating plan. (Take THAT, WeightWatchers!) Okay! Let's RECAP. Here are Pom Pom's Best Features: Diminutive Stature: She’s portable for errands, vacations, chores, and more. Quiet as a Mouse: No barking (Zero. Nada. Zilch.). Great for apt dwellers, quiet neighborhoods, or home offices. Leash Trained: She's def not an escape artist, and she's fab with a tiny tape leash. Crate Trained: She sleeps in the crate at night but likes to be with her pack and person during the day. She's loyal to the core and will follow you to the Moon and back (or just to the bathroom). Minimalist Eater: One can of moist dog food goes a long way with this #tinydancer. She also boiled chicken (HINT: Great for hiding medicine in!). Hurry! Pom Pom will be scooped up quickly, so don’t delay. Complete an application and set up a meet-and-greet today! Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pom Pom, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
