My story

Stoney was surrendered to the shelter on July 23rd, 2025 after his family moved to a home that did not allow pets. Stoney had lived with them for two years after being obtained from a breeder. Stoney is described as a calm, protective boy in the home who lived with both adults and children. He’s crate trained, mostly housebroken, and reportedly loves kids, toys, and walks. He’s shown a lot of friendly and affectionate traits during his early shelter interactions and we can't wait to learn more about this adorable hippo! Behavioral Notes Per volunteer 7/24: Meet our shelter’s resident “land hippo” — big-bodied, big-hearted, and full of life! He greets everyone with a nonstop tail wiggle and the kind of joy that’s contagious. This sweet guy recently scored a McDonald’s cheeseburger from a staff member (yes, he deserved it!) He may pull a bit on leash, but it’s just because he can’t wait to explore and say hi. Overflowing with friendliness and charm — come meet him and feel the love!
