Nyleonna is a beautiful, playful girl who’s looking for a fresh start in a patient and loving home. She may be a little unsure at first, but with gentle encouragement and a few tasty treats, she warms up into a loose, wiggly pup who loves attention. Nyleonna enjoys being around her favorite people, and is always happy to hop back into her kennel after an adventure. She can get a bit mouthy when excited, nothing mean, just her way of showing affection, so she'll thrive with consistency, structure, and continued training.Nyleonna has had a good dog meet during her time at the shelter, so she may be open to a fur sibling. While she’s still learning how to navigate new situations, Nyleonna’s heart is in the right place. She would do best in an experienced, adult-only home where she can feel safe, build trust, and continue to come out of her shell. Come meet her at ACCT Philly, open daily from 10 am to 6 pm VIDEOS: Butch and Nyleonna meet 7/13/25: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5-Zf7qmcUAc?si=Yb7HkA5-j6S9vZgb Nyleonna catches treats: https://youtube.com/shorts/Ex-5sTtZ8Uw?feature=share BEHAVIOR: Per volunteer 7/11: Nyleonna was initially barking heavily at her kennel door when I approached. When I offered her a few bits of hotdogs and asked if she wanted to go out she seemed to soften a bit and loosened her body. She was easy to leash and relatively relaxed through the kennel, tho she did bark at other dogs in their kennels. In the yard she was mostly interested in treats and played with toys a bit. She barked at the fence quite a bit when another dog walked by. She was easy to get back inside and into her kennel. 07/10/2025 volunteer notes: Kennel presentation: Nyleonna was sleeping in her kennel when I approached. I dropped a few treats in her kennel and she woke up and slowly started to come up to the front of the kennel with a loose body, soft eyes and a low/ mid tail wag. I opened her Kennel door and she allowed me to leash her with ease. Leash: minimal pulling Handling: outside we were in a yard with another staff member. Nyleonna remained loose in the yard with both handlers. She had soft eyes, and a mid wagging tail. She does know her name (Nyla on collar). She would jump up on the staff member allowing all handling and was very loose while with the staff member. At times she could get a bit mouthy because of over excitement but never pressed down. A male staff member did walk by the yard and she did start barking at him, stiff body, low wagging tail. Once he walked away she went right back to being loose and wiggly with us. On leash she can pull a little bit but fairly walks well. Going back to her kennel she hops right in with no issues. Toys: no interest Play: no interest Color: blue 07/10/2025 staff notes, playgroup: When trying to introduce "Nyleonna" during her steerability test to enter the yard for playgroup she would redirect onto handler through the fence. Handlers did not feel safe having her introduced into the yard. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
