Hello! My name is Olive – I’m an affectionate and active chihuahua blend girl who is 2 years old and weighs 8 lbs. I’m looking to find my forever home where I can play, play, play and then find the perfect lap to relax on. I've been told I am "cute as a button" . . . who am I to argue? General Behavior: This little darling has energy for days and is very fast (we swear she is part Cheetah with the speed and athleticism she has). After she runs and gets her energy out, she just wants to curl up in a human lap. Likes & Dislikes: Olive loves her toys - rope toys being her absolute favorite. She is not a fan of “new” people in her home so her new human(s) will need to work with her, so she becomes comfortable with them. Once she is comfortable, she is very loving with people. Thunderstorms and fireworks are two things on her list of strong dislikes. Training: She has worked hard in her foster home with house training and is doing very well. Olive walks well on a leash and she loves riding in a car. She needs to continue working on her basic manners. Additional training should be easy given she is food and treat motivated, peanut butter flavor being her personal favorite. Medical: Olive will just require her monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention, like any other dog. Other Animals: Olive has experience with both playful dogs and calm dogs. She is the only dog in her foster home but has enjoyed meeting other dogs on walks or in other foster homes. In her time before Poodle and Pooch Rescue, she had a tough situation with larger dogs, so we are unsure how she would be with them. She has met cats in another home, (they all ignored each other), but we are not sure how she would do with cats in HER home. Children: Due to her small size and energy, a home with respectful children (8 years +) would be best for Olive. Children would need to be supervised by grown-ups in the home. Home: Olive loves her people and would prefer to have a home where they are home more often than not. She would not do well in a “high traffic” home and does bark at new people coming in/out. She does yelp when left alone but then does eventually settle down. That is something to keep in mind if you have shared walls with a neighbor. When you do come home, it takes her a bit to decompress, and she acts like you’ve been gone for weeks. When home alone, she is kept in a secure area and at night she cuddles up in her dog bed. Due to her speed, a very secure fenced backyard would be ideal for her so she can run to her heart's delight. Grooming: Olive is low-maintenance and will just need occasional baths and nail trims. Overall: If you are looking for a loving, affectionate gal, Olive may be the one for you. Are you the one for Olive? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You will be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it is a potential match. Olive is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, spayed and she even had a recent dental. Her adoption donation is $425. ##2385332##
