My story

Hi, I’m Groot! I'm a 4-year-old, 62-lb American Bulldog blend. Like my Marvel namesake, I'm a gentle giant who just wants to find a great family who will love me forever.  General Behavior: Groot is the sweetest, most loving and devoted soul who will always be a puppy at heart. Likes & Dislikes: Groot loves a car ride! He also loves his special, durable toys (not just any toys). By contrast, Groot dislikes loud noises, such as thunder or fireworks. If he is on a walk with a leash and all of a sudden there's a loud noise, he will get startled and pull on the leash . Training: Groot has the makings of a very good boy! He is housetrained if let out regularly. He still needs more practice leash walking, but he is a good passenger in the car and he sleeps in a dog bed at night. Gadgets, toys, and any other objects should never be left lying within his reach: those need to be tidied away with Groot around. Medical: Groot is a healthy guy and simply requires his monthly heartworm and flea prevention. As for his unique appearance, we did take Groot for a visit with a dermatologist and they suspect that maybe someone dumped something toxic/chemical on him in his past - his appearance is purely cosmetic and not allergy related. It doesn't bother him a bit. Other Animals: Groot is good with other dogs: playful or calm, he loves them all! He is even good with cats. Children: Groot has not been observed around children. However, he might try to play with/eat children's toys, so he would probably do best in a home without children. Home: Groot's ideal home is a single family home with a securely fenced yard because he has high anxiety whenever there are thunderstorms and fireworks! He will bark non stop. He is also nervous of loud noises while out leash walking, so he would benefit from a secure yard where he could exercise. Grooming:  Groot doesn't require any elaborate grooms, just regular baths and nail trims. He isn't a fan of bathtubs so a big walk-in shower or even an outside bath on warm days suits him just fine.  Overall: Groot is an amazing dog who is looking for a very special family who will love him just the way he is. Do you want to say "We are Groot...'s family"? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. His adoption donation is $275. ##1884496##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Groot, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
