My story

Samuel is a 60-pound black lab mix with a heart as soft as his ears and a nose just a little too short to be serious which is fitting, because hes not a serious guy. Hes sweet, soulful, easy to love, and quietly hilarious once you know him.Hes about six years old, rescued from a high-kill shelter with only minutes to spare. And youd think that might leave a mark but Samuel has never looked back. Hes too busy trotting forward with his ears flopping, tail wagging, and eyes full of wonder at every bird, breeze, or bit of fluff he comes across.Hes got a real joy for life, but hes not a wild one just cheerful and curious, with a gentle eagerness to explore and connect. He loves his people deeply, plays sweetly, and fits beautifully into family life. He currently lives with two small boys and handles their little-kid chaos with the patience of a seasoned dad and the heart of an old soul. Honestly, hes just SUCH a good boy!Samuel has lovely house manners, is crate-trained and polite indoors, and rides well in the car. He walks on leash with enthusiasm okay, a little too much enthusiasm when he catches a scent, but he settles in with reminders. Hes the kind of dog who wants to be included in the walk, the playtime, the road trip, the moment. He wants to be -- and deserves to be -- treated like a valued member of the family.Hes done well with other dogs, and may thrive with a gentle female companion -- he'll be happiest in a home with another relaxed dog or as the center of attention. He will definitely chase cats (and squirrels, and probably imaginary things in bushes), but so far, he hasnt tried to catch any birds just watches them with deep curiosity, like hes trying to remember where he knows them from. Hes not looking for anything fancy just a loving, stable home with a soft bed, a human or two to adore, and somewhere nearby to run free once in a while. Hes the perfect match for a family, but would also be happy with a couple or anyone looking for a steady, loving companion with enough playfulness to keep things fun, and enough heart to fill up a home.Samuels waited long enough. Hes ready to start the rest of his life with people who see just how wonderful he is! He's in a foster home in Ontario and is available to be adopted from Niagara to North Bay, or London to Napanee.PS If you're reading this on adoptapet.com, please go to our website lastminutedogrescue.com to fill out an application or send us a message!
