He’s a calm, thoughtful companion who enjoys a slow-paced routine, a good sniff around the block, and the comfort of being near his people. Gatsby starts his day with a morning walk around 9 a.m. followed by breakfast. In the evenings, he enjoys another stroll and dinner before curling up for the night in his pen. While he’ll let you know if he’d prefer to be out and about with you instead of crated, he settles in just fine and is content when you’re out of the house. Though Gatsby was cautious at first, especially about being held or approached too quickly, he’s grown more affectionate and trusting. He doesn’t need constant attention but enjoys knowing you're nearby. He’s not a velcro dog, but he definitely notices where you are and likes to be close. Gatsby is house-trained, crate-trained, and very well-mannered indoors. He’s not destructive and doesn’t chew or dig, though he will give a few barks if someone passes by the house. He walks well on leash, though his curiosity sometimes leads him to pull as he explores. He's been polite with other dogs on walks and hasn't shown much interest in squirrels or birds. While Gatsby is mostly a lounger, he still has a playful streak. He loves ball games— especially the one he invented where he pushes the ball off the couch just so he can chase it again. He’s clever, quirky, and enjoys entertaining himself in little bursts of fun. Gatsby would do best in a quiet home. He doesn’t need much—just a soft place to land, a gentle hand, and someone who appreciates the quiet joy of a dog who has seen life and learned to trust again.July 20, 2025, 12:40 pm
