My story

THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES REGARDING ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Bowie is a dapple dachshund and is estimated to be 4 ½ years old. He was found as a stray, taken to a local shelter, then brought into rescue over Memorial Day. He is a sweet and slightly anxious boy that gets startled by loud or unexpected noises. He loves other dogs and has no issues with cats or even larger dogs. He has started investigating toys but isn’t quite sure what to do with them. Potty training is going well but will need to be taken out regularly. He has taken to kennel training easily as he eats his meals in the kennel and gets a treat when he goes in kennel when we leave the house. Leash training has been started with a hiatus due to the heat. He will walk on leash but will put on the brakes if he is uncertain of what is going on however once we bring his attention back to the other dogs that are walking with him he will keep moving. Bowie has been pretty quiet but has started finding his voice when we leave the house. Sometimes you will find him curled up in a corner of a room but for the most part when you sit down to relax he will join you on the couch to snuggle in and it will be hard to want to get up and disturb his nap on your shoulders, your lap or even just your arm. Even though he will cuddle with you or wag his tail at you to get pets and give you licks when you are sitting down he still is uncertain of you when you are standing so he will shy away or he will submissively sit down. He is anxious about being picked up which you will need to do sometimes to either take him outside and bring him back in. He is unsure of going out or in doors when you are standing near them so we have been propping them open and walking away. If you are looking for a sweet, cuddly companion to watch TV with you, he is your guy. Bowie will need a securely fenced yard and would love a resident dog to show him the ropes. No small children, please! The suggested adoption donation for Bowie is a minimum of $500 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bowie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
