My story

YETI is about 6 weeks old and we believe she is probably an Aussie Shepherd cross who will be in the upper end of mid-sized when fully grown. Yeti and her sister Brita were dumped on a country road in a remote area when they were about 4 weeks old. A woman driving down the gravel road saw the pups and stopped (see picture). She gathered up the pups and took them to a nearby town and turned them into the police department. The police contacted PUP to care for and find them forever homes. Yeti was in remarkably good condition. Although she had a few ticks, she was plump and nearly immediately she liked being handled and played with. She was vet checked on July 7 and weighed almost 6# and the vet pronounced her to be in good health. We are making a guess on breed. Virtually all dogs from the area have some German Shepherd, some husky, some herding dog and a dash of some small dog with 15-25 identifiable breeds in their DNA. We expect the same to be true for Yeti. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Yeti has been vet checked, vaccinated and de-wormed. She will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. Her required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that she be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. Puppy can be seen and selected now but can not go to her new home until July 26.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Yeti, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
