My story

MARVEL loves mini carrots and ice cubes. Go figure! He just returned from a long family road trip and what a great little road warrior he is. Most of the time he slept on the front seat resting his head on the driver's lap but sometimes he rested his head on the driver's shoulder. He couldn't be a better little traveling companion. At his destination he adapted well and seemed to like the idea of a real vacation. AND, you have got to love those 'outrigger' ears. As little Red Riding hood said, "my what big ears you have". Marvel is a sweet gentle soul who loves his person. He is just waiting for his forever person to come into his life. Marvel is a true rescue and a survivor of all the survivor tests. His mommy was hit and killed by a car and Marvel and his sister were left to fend for themselves in a desperately poor, remote community. A Good Samaritan helped them and PUP arranged for a volunteer to drive 130 miles to get the puppies. The miracle of love and food changed Marvel’s life forever. Now happy and active, he is ready for his forever home. He is still cautious meeting people especially if he is in an unfamiliar situation. He has strongly bonded to his foster mom meaning he is eager, willing and able to form attachments. His coat is gorgeous. Marvel is living with other puppies and dogs and plays hard but well with same size or larger dogs. He is completely respectful of the authority of the adult resident dog. He is making good progress on housebreaking. He is crated when his foster mom goes to work and at night and keeps his crate clean and dry. He is quick to get his business done outside. He loves his outdoor play time, but he also loves his indoor time. It is almost like he has had enough of camping out and is more than happy to enjoy a nice house and a cozy bed. Marvel benefits from patient and loving socialization. He has done well at meet and greet events but is most comfortable in a familiar environment. He has gone on several 'play dates' away from home and it takes him a bit of time to relax, but once he does he acts like his best self. Recently he discovered that sofas are soft and comfy and even better when there is a human there to cuddle with. He needs a loving person to be his forever person and he would love a home with another dog. Huskies have the reputation for being runners. Not this one. He just loves home and hearth. They are also not noted to be much interested in water, but Marvel loves climbing into the wading pool to play or just hang out. We did DNA testing on sister, Almira, and it came back with 79% Siberian Husky and everything else was single digits with Lab the highest percent at 8%. the rest is Cattle dog, German Shepherd, Malamute, and Border Collie and miniature Schnauzer at 1%. His coat is now silky soft and the white hair is quite long. He weighed 26# at 5 months. We believe he is full grown at under #40 but he will likely 'fill out' a bit more as he matures. what you see is what you get. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Marvel will need special help here. Things are new and likely to be scary. She will need patience to learn about walking on a leash and all the other things puppy needs to know. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different safe human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Marvel has been vet checked, vaccinated including rabies and Bordetella and de-wormed and neutered. We do place puppies outside the metro area but do not ship. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a pooch. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. Video link https://youtube.com/shorts/fHAKqN7ZP_0

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Marvel, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
