My story

Meet Vortex !! This guy is a stunning puppy. He’s extremely intelligent, loving and very high energy. He absolutely loves water and anything fun. He’s looking for an active family. He LOVES water and will go swimming any chance he gets!! Vortex is an approx 6 month old male puppy. He weighs 29 pounds currently. He will be vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and neutered as part of his adoption. We don’t know his exact breed but suspect he is a “cowboy corgi” This a popular mix within the farming community and it matches his looks and personality. It’s typical a mix of corgi and Cattle Dog/Heeler. Do your research on the breeds and breed mix prior to applying. He’s wonderful but he’s definitely not for every household. Vortex is fostered with other dogs and doing great. He loves all other dogs and loves to play. Another playful high energy dog in the home would be great for him. He can be very vocal when he’s playing. He has not yet met cats so we are not sure how he would do. Just guessing he would likely be to much for cats but we never know until they meet one. He has been great with potty training. He’s done very well with crate training and car rides. He does good on a leash. He has not had any trouble sharing, food, treats, or toys with other dogs or people. He is very intelligent and learns quickly. He has a ton of training potential and would likely be a great agility or sport dog. He would also be a great running or hiking partner. Vortex loves everyone he meets. He’s not fostered with kids but we think he would do well with the right kids. If you have younger kids please research herding behaviors in dogs. They have a tendency to nip at ankles or hands. Many people falsely label this as aggression or biting when it’s just their generic behavior showing through. He is a HIGH ENERGY DOG. He has tons of energy. He loves playing ball, playing with dogs, chase, sticks, puzzle games, and anything to keep his mind busy. He is very eager to learn. He will absolutely need someone that is extremely active with him both mentally and physically. He definitely needs to be out running and playing to get his physical energy out, but he also needs someone that is willing to do things with him that engage his mind so he doesn’t get pent up and start displaying negative behaviors. READ THIS- Herding breeds nip(Not bite) at things to herd them. They will do this with humans and other pets. It’s just who they are. It can be partial trained out with lots of consistency but most likely will always be there at times. His adopter must recognize this as a herding behavior, not aggression. This is the reason we want him to go to a home with older children and tolerant playful dogs. Many dogs of this breed type are rehomed due to “aggression” when in reality it’s just them attempting to do what they were bred to do. This needs to be understood by his family so he doesn’t lose his home in the future. He is way to amazing and sweet to end up in a home that just doesn’t understand him. If you can’t understand or handle those behaviors then this puppy is not the one for you. You couldn’t ask for a cuter or sweeter puppy. He’s already got a good foundation on his training and as long as he goes to the right family that understands his breed and energy needs he’s going to be amazing. Vet and home checks required. Fenced yard required due to energy level Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com or for faster response message our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application.‼️

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Vortex, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
