My story

Meet Stetson !! This little guy is so fun and super sweet. He has a big dog personality in a little dog body. Very playful and fun. Outgoing happy boy!! Stetson is a approx 2 year old male. We don’t know exactly what his breed is but his paperwork said chihuahua mix. He doesn’t really have the typical chi personality though. He weighs 22 pounds and is full grown. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He is thankfully heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. Stetson loves other dogs. He’s spunky and happy to play rough with bigger dogs. He does very well taking cues from other dogs when they’re done playing with him. He hasn’t been around cats so we aren’t sure how he would do. He has not been fostered with kids, but he’s super sweet and loving so we think he would do well. He can be a little mouthy when he gets excited playing. Nothing too bad or aggressive at all but something to consider if you have tiny kids or kids that might be scared of that type of play. He has been great on car rides. He can be a little bit whiny at first. He does pretty good with leash walking. He’s been great about his crate training, but he does need to be tired out before he goes in at night or he will whine. If he can see you out in the house while he’s in his crate he will sometimes park or wine to get your attention because he wants to be out with you. Stetson does good with basic potty training when taken out regularly. It did take him a few days to learn the routine of his foster home but now he’s doing very well with it. He did initially try to mark his territory inside of new places. He was just neutered so we are hoping thaf behavior will fade away. He has a fairly high energy level. He loves to play and run and roughhouse with other dogs. He’s definitely not a lapdog but more of a fun adventurous dog. His foster says he’s very bouncy, super fast, runs circles around the house, has lots of energy wanting to play, in and out of the house but will settle and lay on the floor at night. He will jump in your lap or lay next to you when he’s tired. Stetson has not shown any issues with people or other dogs about sharing his treats or toys. He foster family feeds all dogs separately, so we are not sure if he would share his food with other dogs but he’s fine with people. He has not tried to chew on anything other than his toys so far however he has not left unsupervised when his foster family is gone. Although he has not yet done it, his foster family feels like he would be a runner if given the opportunity off leash. He’s very fast and does not have any recall at this point. He would be best with a fenced in yard or a fenced in area to play in several times a day. If you’re looking for a super sweet and mostly trained little guy that has a ton of personality and an adventurous attitude, then he may be the one!! Vet and home checks required. Fenced exercise area required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com or for faster response message our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application. ‼️

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Stetson, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
