Meet Colilbri “Bri” !! She came to us with her three puppies (posted separately) They were all shut down and terrified. Since getting to her foster home this sweet girl is steadily opening up and seeing that people are safe. Colilbri is a approx 4 year old mix breed, possibly Rat terrier, cattle dog or jack russell types. She weighs 20 pounds and is full grown. She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines as part of her adoption. She is Heartworm negative and on monthly preventatives. We are posting her a little early as we are still figuring her out and letting her show us her personality. We knew when we posted her pups then people would ask about her to and wanted to put up an initial post about her. We also know she will need someone special to work with her and that whoever helps her break through her fear will be the person she is most loyal to ❤️ Colilbri is a great little dog but she takes time to warm up to you. She is the kind of dog you need to ignore for a bit and then she starts seeking out your attention. She needs time to see that you are not scary. If you are willing to give her a few days she will start to trust you. Her foster has been able to manage her well by going slow and building trust. She has done well with other dogs but mostly ignores them. We do not know how she would do around cats. She can adjust to kids but they must be kids that are old enough to respect the dogs boundaries until she is comfortable with them. Colilbri has done better than expected with potty training. She definitely does not want to do it inside. It takes her a few days to trust you so that she can feel safe to go outside with you but once she does she’s been great about having no accidents. She has done well on car rides although she’s currently nervous and unsure of them. She is currently too afraid to walk on a leash. She hasn’t been crated yet to make bonding easier with her foster family. She’s been gated in the kitchen and done really well with that. She’s recently started leaving the kitchen when the gate is open and seeking out attention from her foster family. She recently jumped up on the couch with her foster mom briefly before heading back to the safety of the kitchen. She’s starting to venture from the kitchen more and find her people. She has not shown any issues sharing food, treats or toys with people or other animals. She has started gently taking treats from our hands. Despite being very scared she did well with the vet. (Posting a cute video in the comments on the main post of how excited she is about cheese lol) Due to her fear level she would need a fenced yard or a secured pen area to potty in until she gains more confidence. Currently her energy level is low but we fully expect her to open up and be a more active girl. We want her adopter to understand that she is likely to change in different ways as she loses the fear and embraces life. She will need a special family willing to help her through the fear and embrace a wonderful new life. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com or for faster response and to see more photos messafe our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application.‼️
