Pazazz initially came in as a stray on 8/9/21, and was adopted shortly thereafter. Owner noted that she is “nervous & aggressive towards strangers, and selective towards dogs & other cats. Collar is embedded in her neck. Its infected and it smells.” Per staff on 6/28: “I went to say hello to Pazazz and get some promo and she was still disoriented & nervous, but allowed me to pet her. After maybe twenty seconds, she did start leaning into the pets and closing her eyes.” Per intake exam on 6/27/25: “ - healthy pink gums ,teeth slightly yellow discoloration on most teeth Urogenital: Female - patient had severely embedded collar, necrosis of skin and live fly larvae on wound. Attitude -QAR (quiet, alert, responsive) Overall Assessment: Plan Patient was surrendered due to health of P. Cat had severely embedded collar. Skin was raw from possible infection and had live fly larvae on wound and on collar.” Per exam on 6/27/25: “Presented to triage as owner surrender for embedded collar. Owner stated P had escaped for 10 days. On exam, noted a severely embedded collar with a foul odor emanating from it. Additionally, noted maggots and fly eggs. When the collar was removed, more maggots were found. The tissue underneath the collar is largely granulation tissue consistent with the injury being present for a very long period of time (possibly since the cat was a kitten). Kept exam to a minimum to prevent undue pain. Gave Capstar to help treat maggots, Convenia, starting Bupe. Will need surgical debridement and closure.” Per intake exam on 8/12/21, Pazazz was found to be in overall good health. His behavior was “BAR (bright, alert responsive), and he was fearful but easy to handle.” Videos: Saying hello to Pazazz: https://youtube.com/shorts/LKFPGQBNVec?feature=share
