My story

Ellie is the full package—fun, affectionate, and bursting with puppy love and energy! This sweet girl is as friendly and social as they come. She absolutely adores people, especially kids, and is always ready to share some cuddles or flop over for a belly rub (her favorite!). Ellie is playful and active—she loves going for walks and exploring the world. She’s housebroken as long as she’s kept on a regular schedule, and when the day winds down, you’ll find her curled up next to you on the couch, soaking up all the snuggles she can get. Ellie hasn’t met many dogs outside of her brother, but she should do well with another pup who’s respectful of her space and energy. Ready for a loyal, loving, and fun-filled new best friend? Ellie is waiting to meet you! You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
