My story

Rosie is a sweet and cute 3-year-old Siberian husky, with a little bit of sass and wildness, hence her name. She is named after the Wild Rose, the official flower of Alberta, where she has been fostered for the past 3 months. Rosie was scheduled to be euthanized at a shelter where she was abandoned by her owner. The shelter was over capacity and because Rosie wasn’t eating due to depression, she was bumped up on the euthanasia list. Well, as it turns out, this girl eats (and loves every bite)! We think Rosie may have spent the first few years of her life tied up outside, with no exercise and little human interaction. She also has some signs of being abused. When we got her, she was scared of everything. But she is really starting to come out of her shell – it’s quite amazing to witness. However, this is not something that will change overnight. She is still nervous and skittish around new experiences. Rosie will need a patient, loving home, free from kids and smaller animals. She needs a family that can give her the time she needs to adjust, and provide her with some basic training. She would thrive in a home with another dog that she can learn from. When Rosie first came out of the shelter, she was thought to be low energy. As she has lost some weight and begun to gain confidence, her true personality has started to come through. She is mischievous and funny, and she loves running and chasing squirrels! As wild as she may seem, she will come up for snuggles and belly rubs when she feels the need (and when she feels safe). In those moments, your heart will truly melt. While Rosie doesn’t know all the commands (sit, high five, etc.) she has a different type of intelligence. In a home with love and patience, we believe Rosie will continue to blossom!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rosie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
