My story

MEET CROWN! This royal cutie is around 8-10 years old and joined City of Elderly Love after he was brought to Philly's animal control shelter as a stray then timestamped for euthanasia due to his physical condition and veterinary needs. Thankfully, Crown has made a full recovery and has put on some much needed weight. Crown has gone through a lot of changes lately going from fending for himself, to the shelter, to a foster home, but one thing that hasn't changed is his easy-going, magnetic personality! Crown is a petite little pittie, weighing around 40 lbs. with the cutest apple-shaped head. Some of Crown's favorite things include playing with rope toys, lounging outside in the sun, hanging out with his canine foster brothers, eating snacks whenever possible including most veggies, and taking slow walks around the neighborhood! Despite his age, he's pretty mobile and gets around great. He loves to romp around in the yard and stairs are no problem for him. He does have a slight limp, likely due to an old injury and stiffness and would benefit from some joint supplements, but it doesn't hamper his mobility. He'll have about one good zoomie session a day (usually in the morning) then he's happy to just chill out the rest of the day. Crown is housebroken and pretty quiet besides the occasional bark to let you know he needs to go out. He doesn't mind being left alone for longer periods of time. In our opinion, Crown is as perfect as they come but we also wouldn't put it past him to try to stick his head in a stinky trash can and taste test its contents, just something to keep in mind. He also prefers to eat his meals away from the other dogs so that he doesn't have to share. He doesn't show signs of guarding toys from the other dogs but definitely doesn't want to share his meals. Crown is a little too interested in cats so we think he'd do best without them. He can be a little mouthy when taking treats and is still working on taking them more gently which is the only reason we'd recommend him for families with older kids. But otherwise, a little gentleman! Crown caught up on vet care since coming to the rescue and is overall, a healthy guy. He was badly in need of a dental - many of his teeth were worn down and cracked so he's since had a dental cleaning with extractions and is feeling much better these days. Now that he's fully recovered from his days as a stray, Crown is ready to land his kingdom! Crown is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Interested in meeting him? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt CROWN, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
