My story

Meet Wayne – A Resilient Wiggle-Butt Sweetheart Ready to Steal Your HeartWayne is a strikingly handsome 3-year-old Pit Bull with a story of resilience and hope. He was discovered at a common dumping site, his feet raw and inflamed from untreated skin allergies—a painful reminder of a rough past. Despite the discomfort, Wayne’s gentle and loving spirit shone through immediately—greeting shelter staff with soft blinks, an enthusiastic tail wag, and a full-body wiggle that says, “I just want to be loved.”Thanks to attentive veterinary care, Wayne is now on the road to recovery. His treatment plan includes medicated baths, a course of antibiotics and antifungals, and possibly a special diet to help manage his allergies long-term. Already, Wayne is showing signs of improvement and blossoming into the joyful, affectionate companion he was always meant to be.But Wayne’s charm goes far beyond his striking appearance and improving health. He has revealed himself to be a wonderfully calm, sweet-natured dog who craves connection and affection. Throughout his time here, Wayne exudes calm, relaxed energy—welcoming gentle touches, leaning into affection, and responding with soulful eyes and joyful tail wags. He never shows fear or anxiety, instead choosing to engage warmly and confidently with everyone around him.Wayne has shown polite curiosity toward toys but clearly prefers human companionship over play, often seeking reassurance and affection from his handler rather than focusing on objects. His manners around food also impressed the team: he eats with enthusiasm but remains calm and relaxed, allowing petting during meals without any signs of resource guarding or stress.Wayne’s social skills with other dogs show promise. When introduced to a canine friend, he approached with excitement and curiosity, tail wagging eagerly. While he displayed some youthful, pushy behaviors like mounting and chin-over, these are typical of dogs still learning boundaries and can be managed easily with consistent training and guidance. Wayne has the potential to thrive in a home with a calm, respectful dog companion. This resilient boy is a true diamond in the rough—soft-hearted, people-oriented, and eager to please. Wayne is searching for a loving family who will continue his allergy care, shower him with affection, and provide a safe, stable home where he can finally relax, heal, and thrive.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt WAYNE, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
