My story

Meet Lucy! Lucy is a 1–2-year-old, 9lb Chihuahua mix from Alabama with a heart full of love and a whole lot of personality packed into her tiny frame. In the short time she’s been in foster care, she has completely charmed her foster and their roommates with her sweet, affectionate nature and silly quirks. Lucy is a total lovebug who gives full-body wiggles whenever she sees a human—she just can't contain her joy! She’s also got a signature move: standing up on her hind legs to do a little dance when she’s excited or wants attention. She’s a true performer in the making! She currently shares her home with a very large resident dog and has been nothing but respectful. She gives the big dog space, offering polite sniffs and quietly hanging nearby. While she hasn’t engaged in full play just yet, her calm and curious demeanor suggests she could enjoy canine companionship in the right home. When it comes to potty habits, Lucy is off to a great start. She seems comfortable using both pee pads indoors and going potty outside, making her a flexible option for various home setups. She’s also a dream in the crate—she may whine for a few seconds when you first leave, but she settles quickly and rests peacefully. Lucy is very food motivated and absolutely adores cuddles, making her a great candidate for learning tricks and basic obedience. Her foster thinks she has serious “trick dog” potential thanks to her eagerness to please and her love of both snacks and praise. Currently living in the busy Upper West Side of Manhattan, Lucy is adjusting well to city life. She can be startled by loud noises or sudden commotion, so a secure harness is a must for her walks. But she bounces back quickly and keeps trotting along, ready to explore the next block or patch of grass. Speaking of grass—Central Park is her playground! Lucy loves to dig in the dirt and chase after gnats (yes, she tries to eat them!), making her foster laugh with her goofy antics and playful energy. Lucy would thrive in a home where she gets plenty of love, snuggles, and maybe a little training to channel her smarts. She’s sweet, spunky, and so ready to find her forever family. Adopt Lucy and let her dance her way into your heart! Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, lepto, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Lucy, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2403905##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
