My story

Meet Brownie — an 8-year-old, 11-pound Chihuahua mix with a giant personality packed into a tiny frame! Brownie is truly one of the easiest, happiest little dogs around. He’s been thriving in his Brooklyn foster home, charming every human, dog, and cat he crosses paths with — seriously, he’s obsessed with making new friends. This sweet and silly boy is the ultimate sidekick. He’s playful, cuddly, and loves being part of the action — whether that’s joining you for a walk, lounging on the couch, or greeting every pup on the sidewalk with an enthusiastic spin. He’s not big on toys, but he absolutely loves being included in everyday life and will happily follow you around like your biggest fan. Brownie is house-trained and has picked up apartment living like a pro. While he wore a belly band early on for some curious marking, he rarely needs it now. He’s also got great house manners — he has free roam when you’re out and just naps peacefully until you return. No separation anxiety, no drama — just a chill little dude. He walks beautifully on leash and doesn’t blink an eye at city noise — skateboards, sirens, you name it. Brownie’s also learning his commands like “come” and “stay,” and he’s eager to keep impressing his people with how smart he is. Brownie would be happy in almost any home — with kids or without, other animals or as a solo star. He gets along with everyone, though because he can be a little fussy with high-value treats, any children should be older and dog-savvy. He’s already made so much progress and will continue to thrive with a bit of structure and gentle guidance. Looking for a friendly, low-maintenance lovebug who’s always ready to cuddle, explore, or just hang out? Brownie’s your guy. Whoever adopts him is hitting the jackpot. Health: Brownie has been diagnosed with a grade IV/VI heart murmur. While he is not currently in congestive heart failure, the severity of the murmur means it may be a possibility in the future. To help delay the onset, he is taking 1.5mg of Pimobendan twice daily—a medication proven to significantly slow the progression of heart disease. Due to a mild sedation risk and his heart condition, neutering is not recommended at this time. Brownie previously underwent a dental procedure to remove 10 infected teeth and handled anesthesia well, but we do not feel comfortable putting him under again unless absolutely necessary. His senior bloodwork came back normal, and he’s currently showing no symptoms—just happily trotting around like the sweet little guy he is! We recommend annual (or in some cases, biannual) echocardiograms and keeping an eye on his breathing and activity levels. Brownie is ready for his forever home and looking for someone to keep up with his walks, snuggles, and social calendar. Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, Lepto, and Bordetella, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Needs to be neutered. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Brownie, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2382866##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Brownie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
