My story

We do not know how Diego has spent nearly six months in the shelter because in the short amount of time he's been with us he has shown us what a truly special pup he is. Diego LOVES people—he’s a world-class snuggler and the perfect couch companion for your next Netflix binge. He also enjoys walks with his favorite humans and has a gentle, affectionate nature that makes everyone who meets him fall in love. Diego has some great house skills and is already crate and house trained! Diego also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and quickly became buddies with his previous foster’s resident pup. However, we recently discovered that Diego is heartworm positive, which means he now needs a calm, quiet foster home where he can rest and heal. What does heartworm treatment involve? Heartworm disease is NOT contagious to other pets, but it does require medical treatment and—most importantly—strict exercise restriction for several weeks. This means no running, roughhousing, or high activity. Because of this, Diego needs a foster home without another playful dog who might encourage him to romp. What Diego needs most is a soft place to land—a calm home filled with love and a comfy couch where he can relax during his recovery.
